WOMEN'S HOOPS DROPS 98-72 DECISION TO NEVADA

11/17/2010

Mallorie Franco had a season-high 14 points, but the Hornets lost 98-72 on Wednesday night.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Kylie Kuhns posted her third double-double of the season in as many games but it wasn't enough as Nevada knocked of the Sacramento State women's basketball team, 98-72, on Wednesday night at the The Nest.

Kuhns scored a team-high 20 points and pulled down a game-high and career-high 18 rebounds while also dishing out a career-high six assists but the Hornets fell to 0-3 on the young season. Mallorie Franco was Sacramento State's second-leading scorer with 14 points and Sadie Clements also scored in double figures for the Hornets, with 10 points.

Tika Koshiyama-Diaz had a season-high and tied her career-high with nine assists from the point guard position. Natasha Torgerson swatted a career-high six blocks. Her previous best was two.

Tahnee Robinson led the Wolf Pack with 25 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes and Shavon Moore added 21 points and eight boards. A total of 13 players saw action for Nevada, with all but two scoring at least two points.

Sacramento State shot 37.7-percent from the floor on 29-of-77 shooting, including 5-of-22 from 3-point range. The Hornets snagged 38 rebounds, committed 18 turnovers and had 26 assists on their 29 made baskets.

Nevada shot 47.7-percent overall on 41-of-86 shooting, with 10-of-24 coming from beyond the arc. The Wolf Pack grabbed 62 rebounds, were pressured into 23 turnovers and had 24 assists on 41 made hoops.

Nevada had pushed it's lead up to 21 points at 40-19 with 5:30 left in the first half but the Hornets went on a 15-5 run to close out the opening period and cut the Wolf Pack lead to just 11 at halftime.

After the break, the Hornets made it a nine-point Wolf Pack advantage with 17:15 left in the game but Nevada would answer with a run of it's own, a 10-2 burst to make it a 17-point lead at 60-43 with 15:16 remaining. The Hornets would never get the deficit back to single digits the remainder of the game.

Sacramento State will be back in action on Monday at 7:05 p.m. with Loyola Marymount visiting The Nest. As always, you can watch Hornet women's basketball on Big Sky TV or listen to the action at HornetSports.com.
