FIVE PLAYERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES LEAD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO 80-44 EXHIBITION VICTORY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Five players scored in double figures, while two players posted double-doubles, as the Sacramento State women's basketball team took home an 80-44 exhibition victory over Holy Names University on Tuesday, Nov. 4 inside the Hornets Nest.
Junior Erika Edwards (Redmond, Wash.) led the Hornets with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Karri Gallagher (Lake Stevens, Wash.) collected 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Atty Boyer (Sacramento, Calif.), sophomore Jasmine Cannady (Sacramento, Calif.) and freshman Nneka Payne (Auburn, Wash.) each poured in ten points.
"The balanced scoring was really indicative of how we shared the ball tonight," head coach Dan Muscatell said. "It was great to get everyone on the court playing a lot of minutes, as every player on the roster has worked hard all fall."
The sophomore duo of Sami Field-Polisso (Mountain View, Calif.) and Tika Koshiyama-Diaz (San Jose, Calif.) each posted seven assists for the Hornets, who forced 32 turnovers and assisted on 23 of 27 made baskets.
"I was pleased with the way our point guards got everyone involved on offense," Muscatell said. "As a group they enjoy sharing the wealth and it makes them a very fun group to coach."
The Hornets out rebounded the Hawks 51-33, and added 16 fast break points. Holy Names was led by Jamie-Leigh Ronolo and Britni Ronolo, who had eight points apiece.
Sacramento State opens up the regular season at UNLV on Friday, Nov. 14.
