The Hornets are now 8-13 on the season and 3-6 in the Big Sky, while Idaho State improves to 12-11 overall and 6-3 in league play.

For the fifth time this season, junior point guard Stephanie Cherry led Sacramento State in scoring with 14 points on 7-of-19 shooting. The Suisun, Calif., native also dished out a team-high three assists.

Senior guard Cindy Alldrin scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive game, adding 11 points while senior forward Lindsey Heard added 10 points and six rebounds. The Roseburg, Ore., native also knocked down two three-pointers.

Senior center Katelyn Ciampi finished with nine points, nine rebounds and a career-high tying four steals, while senior forward Ashley Cadotte brought down 10 rebounds. It was the fourth time this season the Oregon City, Ore., native has recorded a double-figure rebounding game.

Sacramento State shot 29.2 percent (21-of-72) from the floor, its third lowest percentage of the season, and suffered in the first half shooting just 22.6 percent and trailing the Bengals 39-22 at the break.

The Hornets kept things close early on down just 9-7 after a Heard three-pointer with 15:16 left to go in the first. Idaho State then went on a 10-2 run to open up a double digit lead, 19-9, by the 10:30 mark, while the Hornets went cold from the floor.

After leading 26-16 with 4:23 to go until the break, the Bengals went on a 13-6 run to end the half and take a 17-point, 39-22 advantage.

Idaho State had five players finish in double figures, led by Andrea Lightfoot’s game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Natalie Doma also posted a double-double for the Bengals with 13 points and 10 boards.

Sacramento State outscored Idaho State 38-36 in the second half, but could do little to dent the Bengals’ double digit lead.

Idaho State had a 24-point lead with as late as 4:56 left in the game, but the Hornets ended the game on a 14-5 run. Senior guard Kim Sheehy sank her only basket of the game from long range with seven seconds left, keeping her 27-game Big Sky streak with a three-pointer alive.

Sacramento State, which is 1-11 on the road and 7-2 at home, returns to the Hornets Nest next week, hosting the defending Big Sky champions, Montana on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The Hornets will then host Montana State at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday.
