Sacramento State put an early scare in first-place Northern Arizona, but the Lumberjacks were able to regroup in the second half on their way to a 68-54 win on Saturday afternoon at Walkup Skydome.

The Hornets were able to maintain their lead through the rest of the first half, shooting 73.7 percent from the floor, including 6-of-7 from beyond the three-point line.

Sacramento State opened the second half with Cherry’s second three-pointer of the game, but saw its lead chipped away to just 39-38 with 16:27 left after the Lumberjacks’ Kim Winkfield converted two free throws.

Sacramento State’s last lead of the game, 47-46, came at the 10:22 mark, before Northern Arizona went on a 18-2 run to take its first double digit lead of the game, 64-49, with 4:49 remaining. In the five-minute span, the Hornets only bucket came from sophomore guard Ali Mollet, while the Lumberjacks scored on seven consecutive possessions including two three-pointers from Winkfield. The Hornets shot just 23.8 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
