WOMEN'S HOOPS DEFEATED AT EASTERN WASHINGTON

CHENEY, Wash. - The Sacramento State women's basketball team lost a 98-70 decision at Eastern Washington in a Big Sky Conference game on Saturday night at Reese Court. The Hornets slide to 3-16 (0-6 Big Sky) while the Eagles improve to 8-9 (4-1).
Eastern Washington swept the season series as the Eagles also defeated the Hornets 88-72 on Jan. 13 at The Nest.
Kylie Kuhns scored a team-high 23 points, including 13-of-17 at the free throw line, to pair with nine rebounds but Eastern Washington's Brianne Ryan tallied a conference season-high 33 points on 14-of-18 shooting. The Eagles had four other players score in double figures while none had more than seven rebounds.
The Hornets never led in the game as Eastern Washington pushed out to a 10 point lead just four mintues into the game. Sacramento State cut the lead back down to six at 21-15 with 12:48 left to play in the first half but the Eagles would close out the opening 20 minutes on a 31-18 run to take a commanding 54-33 lead at halftime.
The Eagles would lead by as much as 35 points in the second half but the Hornets cut it down to 24 with 4:19 left in the game before EWU went on to win by 28 points.
Sacramento State shot 33.3-percent from the floor on 20-of-60 shooting, including 7-of-28 from 3-point range. The Hornets snagged 36 rebounds, committed 21 turnovers and had 10 assists on their 20 made baskets. They went 23-of-29 at the free throw line.
Eastern Washington shot 45.8-percent overall on 38-of-83 shooting, with 11-of-25 coming from beyond the arc. The Bears grabbed 50 rebounds, were pressured into 17 turnovers and had 26 assists on 38 made hoops. They went 11-of-14 at the free throw line.
The Hornets will have a rare home-and-away next weekend as they travel to Idaho State on Thursday but host Portland State at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday.
