Willard, who will serve as the team's number two assistant, remains on the coaching staff, having served as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2009-10 and as an undergraduate assistant coach in the 2008-09. Willard spent two seasons (2006-08) as a letterwinner on the squad before seeing her playing career end prematurely due to a hip injury.
During this past season, Willard was responsible for many of the day-to-day activities of the basketball program and also assisted with the new Full Court Press women’s basketball booster club. As a undergraduate assistant in 2008-09, Willard helped conduct the team's film exchange and also assisted with perimeter development during practices. In her new role, Willard will be the team's academic coordinator, while also working with the perimeters players as well as the trail posts. She will also coordinate the team's travel, and take part in all facets of the recruiting process.
"We're excited to have Jourdan remain on our coaching staff in a new capacity," Craighead said. "In this role as a full-fledged assistant, we are able to use her strongest attribute, working with the players on the floor. Being a former student-athlete in the program, as well as a local product, I feel Jourdan can open up some avenues in the community that we have not been able to utilize before."
As a player, Willard appeared in 19 contests in 2007-08, making one start at the forward position despite being unable to practice for the majority of the season. Willard led the team in field goal percentage (50.0 %) while averaging 1.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. During the 2006-07 season, she started 15 of the final 17 games of the season after sitting out the first 13 games of the season due to NCAA transfer regulations, averaging 6.2 points per game. Willard had four double-figure scoring games and two-nine rebound performances. She posted a career-high 15 points against Portland State, shooting a career best 6-of-10 from the field. She is a 2009 graduate of Sacramento State with a degree in business administration.
A former standout for the Washington Huskies, Augustavo will join the coaching staff after serving one season as an intern under legendary coach Joan Bonvicini at Seattle University. With the Hornets, Augustavo will oversee the team's film exchange and summer camp program, while also directing the Full Court Press booster club. She will also assist with perimeter development, advance scouting, academics and recruiting.
"Michelle is going to bring a high-level of energy and work ethic into our coaching staff," Craighead said. "She is young and has worked with a top-level coach and competed at a very high level as a player. Michelle is very excited to get to work and we're looking forward to the what she'll bring to the table not only in practice, but the recruiting process as well."
Prior to her time with the Redhawks, Augustavo was a two-year captain for Washington, after spending her first two collegiate seasons at the University of San Diego. A key component and long-range shooter off of coach Tia Jackson's bench, Augustavo missed just two games during her final two seasons, averaging 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. During her junior season she produced back-to-back 20-point scoring efforts against Hawai'i and Northern Arizona, knocking down 10 three-pointers over the two games.
During her time at San Diego, Augustavo put her name in the record books by setting the school's single-game scoring record with a 42 point performance against Clemson as a sophomore. In the contest she was 10-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc, also setting a new Torero record.
A native of Bothell, Wash., Augustavo graduated from Washington with an English degree in 2009.
Sacramento State will begin the 2010-11 season on Nov.4 with an exhibition contest against Cal Maritime, setting the stage for their season opener on Nov. 12 at Pacific.
