REAMS AND SHEEHY REACH DOUBLE FIGURES IN WOMEN'S HOOPS LOSS AT KANSAS

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas used a second half run to open up a double-digit lead and hand Sacramento State its third straight loss, 69-50, at Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
For the second consecutive game, sophomore forward Becca Reams reached double figures for the Hornets (3-15,1-3), scoring 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers.
Senior guard Kim Sheehy also added 15 points, while dishing out five assists, and totaling five rebounds in 39 minutes on the floor.
In the Hornets' last non-conference game of the season, Sacramento State trailed the Jayhawks, 28-20 at halftime, but then opened the second period on a 10-4 run.
With Kansas nursing a two-point lead, 32-30, after a Jourdan Willard layup with 15:18 remaining, the Jayhawks picked up the pace, quickly building their lead back to double digits on a 14-5 run. Kansas continued to pull away, shooting 56.7 percent from the floor in the second half and 50.8 percent for the game.
“The game went as I pretty much expected," Sacramento State head coach Dan Muscatell said. "I was pleased with how hard we played and we were a little shorthanded in the post tonight. In the end, I thought that was the key to the game. I thought that Danielle McCray stepped up and hit two or three real big shots in a row at critical times. Kansas is a young group that you can see will be good in the future. You have to give them a lot of credit. They just kept after us and they eventually found a crack.”
McCrary came off the bench to score 15 points for the Jayhawks, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor. Sade Morris added 14 points off the bench as well, while starting guard Shaquina Mosley produced a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Mosley also added seven assists in the game.
Sacramento State senior forward Ashley Storms did not miss a second on the floor, playing all 40 minutes and contributing seven points, a team-leading six rebounds and a career-high five assists. The Hornets were without the services of sophomore forward Atty Boyer.
Sacramento State's starting five of Sheehy, Storms, Reams, Willard and Stephanie Cherry were the only players to score for the Hornets. The Sacramento State bench was outscored 45-0.
The Hornets are currently on a five-game road trip and will return to Big Sky Conference action next week, heading to Portland State on Thursday, Jan. 25.
