SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Four Weber State players recorded double figures in points, led by Sheila Robertson’s 21, as Weber State defeated Sacramento State, 76-51, in a Big Sky Conference women’s basketball game Thursday evening at the Hornets Nest.

With the victory, Weber State increased its winning streak to nine games while improving to 17-6 overall and 9-1 in the Big Sky. Sacramento State has now lost a season-high 11-straight games while dropping to 2-21 and 0-10 in the conference. The Wildcats are now 13-1 against Sacramento State since the Hornets joined the Big Sky for the 1996-97 season.

Weber State shot 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field, including 40.0 percent (8-20) from three-point range and 80.0 percent (12-15) from the free-throw line. The Wildcats shot 61.5 percent (16-26) in the first half on the way to a 45-24 halftime lead. Weber State never trailed as it scored 16 of the game’s first 17 points and Sacramento State would get no closer than 13 points of the Wildcats’ lead the rest of the way.

Joining Robertson in double figures for Weber State were Crystal Howe (19 points and a team-high tying eight rebounds), Angela Sampson (18 points and a team-high tying eight rebounds) and Julie Gjertsen (11 points). Robertson went 8-of-12 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from beyond the three-point line. Howe finished 8-of-14 while Sampson went 7-of-10.

Although Sacramento State committed a season-low 11 turnovers, the Hornets shot 33.3 percent (20-60) from the field, including just 28.1 percent (9-32) in the first half. The Hornets were outrebounded, 40-31.

After missing the previous 15 games with a stress fracture in her foot, freshman Katelyn Ciampi returned to the lineup and tallied 12 points and a team-high tying nine rebounds in just 20 minutes. Junior Danielle Iceman scored a season-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Iceman, who also had nine rebounds, scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half.

Senior Crystal Conley added seven points and no other Hornets scored more than four points. Junior Diane Peterson recorded a career-high eight assists while freshman Sarah Craig led all players with three steals. With another three-pointer tonight, Peterson has knocked down at least one three-pointer in each of the last seven contests.

As a team, Sacramento State has shot below 40.0 percent from the field in six-consecutive games and 18 times overall this season.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22, as they welcome Idaho State to the Hornets Nest for a 7:05 p.m. contest. Sacramento State has just four games (two on the road and two at home) remaining on the schedule.
