WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS ACADEMY OF ART IN EXHIBITION OPENER
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Alle Moreno had a double-double and the Sacramento State women's basketball team knocked off Academy of Art, 78-59, in an exhibition game on Friday night at The Nest.

The Urban Knights made it interesting in the second half, trimming Sacramento State's lead to just four points with 6:45 left in the game. But the Hornets finished the game on a 14-2 run before winning by a comfortable margin.
The game started out much slower as the two teams combined for just 32 total points 10 minutes into the game. Sacramento State led by 11 at halftime and was up 13 with 10:20 left in the game before Academy of Art made its 12-3 run to cut the lead to four points.
Moreno, a junior guard, had 19 points to go with 10 rebounds while senior forward Kylie Kuhns nearly tallied a triple-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Kuhns was No. 3 in the NCAA last year with 21 double-doubles.
Junior forward Se'nyce Parrish came off the bench to match Moreno with a game-high 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Sophomore point guard, the reigning Big Sky Conference freshman of the year Fantasia Hilliard, filled up the stat sheet with five points, seven assists and six steals.
Sacramento State's press forced a whopping 31 turnovers which turned into 30 points on the other end. The Hornets outrebounded the Urban Knights 63-58 in the game, including 24-18 on the offensive glass. Sacramento State notched 16 second-chance points.
Overall the Hornets shot 32.6 percent from the field but limited the Urban Knights to 30.6 percent shooting on the night.
Sacramento State and head coach Jamie Craighead opens up the regular season next week with a road game at Long Beach State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
