2/27/2012

Alle Moreno was awarded her first career player of the week award on Monday.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State’s Alle Moreno has been named Big Sky Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played the week of Feb. 20-26, the league announced on Monday.
This is Moreno’s first career player of the week award and third this season for the Hornets. Kylie Kuhns won the previous two.
Moreno averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists as the Hornets defeated both regular-season champion Idaho State (73-65) and Portland State (84-82) in the final weekend of their regular season.
The Lodi, Calif., native keyed Sacramento State’s upset over Idaho State with a game-high 25 points, and scored 18 more in a crucial win at Portland State on Saturday.
The sophomore shot 43.8 percent overall, 41.2 percent on three-pointers and 88.9 percent from the line to help the Hornets to a four-game winning streak to end the regular season. Moreno also had five steals compared to six turnovers while averaging 35.5 minutes per game.
While Sacramento State's regular season is complete, the Hornets need Portland State to lose one of its final two games to gain the final bid to the Big Sky Conference Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Idaho State on March 8-10.
