Kylie Kuhns was named Big Sky player of the week after helping the Hornets beat PSU.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State women's basketball player Kylie Kuhns has been named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the games played the week of Feb. 13 through Feb. 19, the league announced on Monday.
This is Kuhns’ second player of the week award this season and third career player of the week honor.
Kuhns helped keep the Hornets in the hunt for the sixth and final spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament with a strong performance in a 71-67 victory over Portland State on Saturday at The Nest.
The junior, who leads the NCAA with 19 double-doubles, was just one rebound short of her 20th as she tallied 17 points, nine rebounds. Kuhns went 8-of-13 from the floor and was a terror on defense, recording three blocked shots and three steals.
The Salem, Ore., native leads the Hornets with 14.1 points per game and is fourth in the nation with 11.8 rebounds per game.
The top five seeds in the Big Sky Conference tournament have already been locked up by Idaho State, Eastern Washington, Montana State, Northern Colorado and Montana. Only the No. 6 seed is still up for grabs and Portland State is currently sixth in the conference standings with four games left to play. Sacramento State is seventh with two games remaining, including another contest with Portland State. The Vikings and Hornets are tied with five conference wins but Portland State has two fewer losses.
Sacramento State hosts Idaho State at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday in its home finale.
