Email: ashley.cadotte@csus.edu
Bio: Sacramento State women’s basketball head coach Jamie Craighead announced the hiring of former Hornet Ashley Cadotte to an assistant coach position on July 19, 2012.

“I’m very excited to have Ashley join our staff and believe she will make an immediate impact on our program,” Craighead said. “She has a passion for the game of basketball, love of the program and her personality and enthusiasm will make her a natural fit among our staff and team. She will excel as a recruiter in the Northwest with her ties to the state of Oregon and will also help us expand our recruiting efforts in all areas.”

Cadotte played on the Sacramento State women’s basketball team from 2004-06. She will work with post players, serve as the team’s academic coordinator and be a primary recruiter.

For the 2012-13 season, she joins Craighead in her fourth year, assistant coach Bill Baxter in his second season and assistant coach Jourdan Willard, also an alum, in her third season.

“Putting a coaching staff together with many ties to this university and our community has been a goal of mine,” Craighead added. “With the addition of Ashley, everyone on our staff is devoted to this program’s success as well as the Sacramento community.”

Last year, Sacramento State won four straight games to close out the regular season before winning the first Big Sky Conference Tournament game in school history as the No. 6 seed Hornets upset No. 3 seed Eastern Washington, 71-61.

Cadotte, a native of Oregon City, Ore., played at Clackamas JC before joining the Hornets for the 2004-05 season. The 6-foot forward averaged 6.5 points and led the team with 6.6 rebounds while starting 27 of 28 total games in her junior season.

As a senior, Cadotte averaged 8.4 points and a team-high seven rebounds per game while starting all 26 games during the 2005-06 season.

After her collegiate career, Cadotte worked as an assistant coach at Clackamas CC (Oregon City, Ore.) for the 2010-11 season and at Chemeketa CC (Salem, Ore.) in 2011-12. She also attended Willamette University (Salem, Ore.) Law School and worked as a clerk for the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

She continued her playing career after graduation as well, competing alongside Williams for the Portland Energy, a summer pro-am team featuring WNBA, NCAA and high school players.
