BROOKINS, WALLACE WRAP UP SEASON AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The remaining members of the Sacramento State track and field team closed out their season on the second day of the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.

Sophomore Ronald Brookins
made his NCAA debut in the 110-hurdles and ran 14.36 to place sixth in the opening heat of the event. The San Diego native, who was the 2009 Big Sky Conference champion, finished the day ranked 24th overall.

Fellow sophomore Lea Wallace took to the track for the second straight day in the semifinals of the 800. Wallace placed seventh in the second heat in a time of 2:07.27 but did not advance to the finals. Wallace's time on Thursday placed her 15th out of 18. The Napa, Calif., native reached the semis after shattering the school record in the opening round on Wednesday.
