BEDINGFIELD OPENS NCAA DIV. I OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS TONIGHT

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State's Shilah Bedingfield will continue her season tonight, June 6, as she competes in the semifinal of the women's 200m at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas. Bedingifled will run out of lane 2 in the second of three heats in the event. The top two finishers in each heat as well as the next two best times will move on to Sunday's final.

Bedingfield set the school record by running 22.95 at the NCAA West Preliminary where she placed eighth at Hornet Stadium. The top eight finishers will be named first team All-America, those that finish ninth-16th will be placed on the second team and the remaining eight earn honorable mention. As expected at the outdoor championships, Bedingfield will likely have to set a PR to advance to the final. Her seed time ranks her sixth in her eight-person heat. Janeek Brown of Arkansas has the fastest time among the group, having run 22.47. The overall leader is USC's Anglerne Annelus with a time of 22.36.
