WOMEN'S AND MEN'S TRACK EACH PLACE SECOND AT WOODY WILSON CLASSIC

DAVIS, Calif. — Members of the Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams combined for 29 top three finishes, set one school top 10 mark and recorded 35 season bests at the Woody Wilson Classic on Saturday at UC Davis. The men's and women's teams each finished in second place overall behind the host Aggies in the team scored competition.

Sacramento State will begin to wind down its regular season next week when the team competes at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific as well as the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State. From there, the Hornets will take on UC Davis in the annual Causeway Classic on Friday, April 26, before heading to Missoula, Mont., for the Big Sky Championships on May 8-11.

WOMEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Amy Quinones continued to add to her stellar senior season as she finished first in the 5K. Quinones ran 17:20.24 to cross nearly 16 seconds ahead of teammate Cagnei Duncan who was second (17:36.16) in her first collegiate 1500. Rachel Victor completed the sweep of the top three by running 18:08.08.

Shilah Bedingfield, who entered the week leading the Big Sky Conference in the 100, 200 and 400, finished first in the in the 200 in 24.38. She also ran the second leg of the 4x100 relay team which claimed the top spot in a season best time of 45.99. Bedingfield was joined on the team by Mikayla Revera, Amari Jones and Brittany Patterson.

Emilia Del Hoyo and Artearra Coffey were second and third, respectively, in the 100-hurdles. Del Hoyo ran 14.26 to leave her .04 seconds off the pace of UC Davis' Erinn Beattie. Coffey had a time of 14.60.

Cassidy Zurn and Mikayla Revera completed the top three finishers for the Hornet women. Zurn was third in the 400 with a career best of 56.61. Revera ran 12.02 to place third in her first collegiate 100.

MEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Jermain Worthy had the highest finish for the Hornet men, placing second in the 110-hurdles in 15.29. Andrew Stich placed fifth in the event with a PR of 15.60.

Daron Bland was third in the 100 with a career best of 10.91. That time broke his previous best of 10.94 which came at last season's Causeway Classic.

Jabari Reynolds was third and Jose Rodriguez fourth in the 200. Reynolds ran 22.11 to edge Rodriguez (22.17).

Rodriguez had the top time on the team and was third overall in the 400. The sophomore ran a career best 49.11 which is also the second best time by a Hornet this year.

WOMEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Sacramento State started the meet on Friday afternoon with the hammer competition. Five women set career bests in the event led by Morgan Jones and Rhaven Dean who each threw 171-04. Jones was awarded second place based on her next best mark while Dean placed third. Jelaia Jones was fourth at 166-09, Erin Whelan threw 147-00 and Shantel Nnaji had a best of 136-05.

Jelaia Jones was also second in the discus and shot put. Her discus throw of 143-10 was a season best and just shy of her PR of 144-01. She had a put of 46-09.00. Shantel Nnaji was third in the discus (142-06) and Morgan Jones was third in the shot put (43-09.25).

Nashedah Mu'Min claimed the individual title in the triple jump. Mu'Min's best jump came on her fourth attempt where she travelled 39-05.75.

Brittany Patterson was second in the long jump with a long of 18-07.75.

Shelby Dozier was third in the high jump after clearing 5-03.00.

MEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Adrienne Jackson and Ryan Tennant each set career bests in the triple jump. Jackson had three jumps of at least 48-feet, including a best of 48-11.00 on his fourth attempt. That mark is the eighth best in school history, moved him into third place in the Big Sky this season and placed him second in the meet. Tennant was third in the meet, recorded the 11th best mark in school history and ranks fourth in the Big Sky with a best of 48-03.25.

Tennant was also third in the long jump with a best of 23-00.75.

Jevin Kitchen finished third in the high jump after clearing 6-06.75.

Kyle Peterson was third in the shot put and discus and fourth overall in the hammer. Peterson had marks of 50-02.75 in the shot put and 162-02 in discus. His hammer throw of 179-08 was the second best mark among collegiate athletes but left him behind Sacramento State assistant coach Kyle Lille who finished first at 198-00.
