SACRAMENTO, Calif. — After a rare week off for most of the team, the Sacramento State track and field program will return to action at the Woody Wilson Clasic at UC Davis this weekend. The meet will begin with the men's and women's hammer throw on Friday afternoon and then continue with the rest of the events on Saturday.
Along with the Hornets and UC Davis, the meet will feature student-athletes from seven other schools, including San Jose State, Pacific and San Francisco. The Hornets will compete nearly its entire roster as 35 women and 25 men are entered in the meet.
Last weekend, Sacramento State was represented by four multi-eventers at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz. Emilia Del Hoyo set a career high in the heptathlon to improve her seventh-place standing on the school's all-time list to highlight the efforts. Del Hoyo scored 5,015 points and set career bests in three of the seven events. The men were led by Frederick Wagner V who totaled 6,115 points.
The rest of the team last competed two weeks ago at a trio of meets. The Hornets were represented by distance runners at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational on March 28 and 29 before taking to the home track for the Mondo Team Challenge on March 30. At the Mondo meet, Sacramento State won the men's and women's team titles. Members of the team also combined for 18 individual titles.
