OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State's Shilah Bedingfield was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Ed Jacoby Invitational. The honor is the first for Bedingfield this season and the first indoor award of her career.
The sophomore started her indoor season by winning a pair of events at the on Saturday at Boise State. Bedingfield ran 7.53 in the finals of the 60-meter dash to tie the Sacramento State record. Her time is also the fastest in the Big Sky this season. She went on to finish first in the 200 after running a career-best 24.29. That mark placed her third in the school record book and is also the fastest in the league this year.
Overall, Sacramento State claimed seven individual event titles at the meet — the team's first of the indoor season. The Hornets will next compete at the UW Invitational in Seattle on Jan. 25-26.
