    Sacramento State’s Shilah Bedingfield will continue her season tonight, June 6, as she competes in the semifinal of the women’s 200m at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas. Bedingifled will run out of lane 2 in the second of three heats in the event. The top two finishers in each heat as well as the next two best times will move on to Sunday’s final.

    Shilah Bedingfield wrapped up her magnificent sophomore season by placing 23rd in the women’s 200 at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday night. Bedingfield ran 23.75 to finish seventh in the second heat and earned honorable mention All-America honors. USC Anglerne Annelus had the top time in the semifinal at 22.35.

    For the second consecutive day, Shilah Bedingfield advanced to the quarterfinal of a sprint to lead Sacramento State at the NCAA West Preliminary at Hornet Stadium. In all, the Hornets participated in three events during the second day of action with Bedingfield competing in the women’s 100 and 200 and Kyle Peterson in the men’s discus.

  • HORNET STADIUM TO HOST NCAA WEST PRELIMINARY BEGINNING ON THURSDAY

    For the second consecutive year, Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium will serve as the host site for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary. The meet will be held May 23-25 with single day and all-session tickets available. The action starts on Thursday and Friday with the throwing events at 12 p.m. and track events at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the first throwing event is at 2:45 p.m. and the track events start at 6 p.m.

    Sacramento State’s Kenny McDaniel was named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year it was announced today. The honor comes less than a week after the Hornet women claimed the Big Sky Outdoor title in Missoula, Mont.
  • TRACK & FIELD ADVANCES EIGHT STUDENT-ATHLETES IN TEN EVENTS TO NCAA WEST PRELIMINARY

    Eight members of the Sacramento State track and field team will compete in 10 events at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary, it was announced today. The meet will take place at Hornet Stadium on May 23-25. Each individual event will have 48 competitors, relays will have 24 teams, with the top 12 advancing to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
  • WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD WINS BIG SKY OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

    The Sacramento State women’s track and field team finished first in six events and claimed its eighth Big Sky Conference outdoor track and field championship in the last 12 years on Saturday at Montana. The Hornets had victories in the 4x100, 200, 400, 4x400, discus and triple jump during the final day en route to scoring 144 points. Weber State was second with 116. The title is the first for Sacramento State since 2015 and completed a sweep of the Big Sky Indoor and Outdoor team titles this season.

    The Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will return to Missoula, Mont., for the first time in over a decade as Montana will host the event on May 8-11. The first two days of the competition will include the heptathlon and decathlon while the main program gets underway on Friday and will conclude on Saturday.

    The Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are two weeks away but championship season begins on Friday for Sacramento State as the team takes part in the Causeway Classic Dual Meet at UC Davis. Field events will start at 2 p.m. and track events will get under way at 3:45 with the men's 4x100 at Toomey Field.
  • BEDINGFIELD LEADS DOMINATING PERFORMANCE BY WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT CAUSEWAY DUAL

    Shilah Bedingfield set the school record in the 200, tied the record in the 400 and was part of the 4x100 relay team which also moved to the top of the Sacramento State record board as the Hornet women cruised to a 114-83 win over UC Davis on Friday night. The Sacramento State men’s team finished second to the Aggies, 115-75, in the 14th annual Causeway Classic Dual Meet.

    Five Sacramento State throwers competed at the Beach Invitational in the shot put and discus on Saturday at Long Beach State. The quintet completed a busy weekend for the Hornets which saw members of the team also compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday and Friday as well as the hammer throw at the Beach Invitational on Friday.

    Members of the Sacramento State men’s and women’s track and field teams combined for 29 top three finishes, set one school top 10 mark and recorded 35 season bests at the Woody Wilson Classic on Saturday at UC Davis. The men’s and women’s teams each finished in second place overall behind the host Aggies in the team scored competition.

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track and field teams were represented by four student-athletes at the Jim Click Shootout on Thursday at the University of Arizona. Emilia Del Hoyo and Chloe Lindbo competed in the heptathlon while Frederick Wagner V and Andrew Stich took part in the first day of the decathlon.

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track and field teams each recorded victories at the Mondo Team Challenge on Saturday at Hornet Stadium. The women had little trouble winning the three-team meet as they totaled 157 and were followed by Idaho (95) and UC Riverside (48). The men prevailed by one point, edging Idaho (114-113). UCR was third with 73.

    Sacramento State senior Cassidy Zurn was named the Big Sky Conference’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Zurn this season and the second of her career.
  • WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD WINS, MEN SECOND AT UC RIVERSIDE SPRING CLASSIC

    Led by 16 top five finishes, the Sacramento State women’s track and field team claimed the team title at the UC Riverside Spring Classic Invitational. The Hornets totaled 156 points over the two day meet to finish just ahead of UNLV (143.5) and Utah Valley (117.5). The Sacramento State men were second with 124 points. Utah Valley easily finished first in the team competition with 209 points while host UCR was third at 92.

  • BRITTANY PATTERSON NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

    Brittany Patterson was named the Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week following her dominant performance at the Hornet Invitational. Patterson finished first in the long jump and was third in the triple jump at the meet to earn her first Big Sky weekly award of her career.
