SEASON CONTINUES FOR ARMSTEAD AT USA TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

DES MOINES, Iowa — Just two weeks after earning first team NCAA Div. I All-America honors, Sacramento State's Darius Armstead will return to competition at the USATF Championships on Friday at Drake University. Armstead is entered in the men's long jump which will start at 3:30 p.m. PT. Coverage for the meet can be seen on the NBC Sports Gold channel throughout the day.

Armstead has surpassed 51-feet in his last six meets and has set season bests in his two most recent competitions. The Visalia, Calif., native jumped 52-04.40 to place fourth at the NCAA West Preliminary at Hornet Stadium on May 26 to advance to the NCAA Championships. Once there, he fouled on his first two attempts before traveling 53-00.75 on his third try. That distance placed him seventh in the meet and was just off his school record of 53-01.50.

Earlier this month, Sacramento State was represented by Sareena Patzke at the USATF Junior Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Patzke finished seventh in the heptathlon with 4,472 points.
