Meet Information/Schedule

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams will look for a little home field advantage as it welcomes UC Davis for the 13th annual Causeway Classic Dual Meet on Friday night at Hornet Stadium. The meet starts with the men's hammer at 2:45 p.m. The long jump begins the events inside the stadium at 3:30 p.m. and the running events start at 5:30 p.m. with the men's 4x100 relay.

The meet will be scored with points being awarded on a 5-3-2-1 basis for individual events and 5-3 in relays. No team can have more than two scorers in an individual competition.

The Sacramento State men have  gone 9-2-1 against the Aggies since the Dual Meet returned in 2005. UC Davis holds a narrow 6-5-1 advantage.

One of the most competitive events during the day will be the men's triple jump where there are five student-athletes ranked among the top 76 in NCAA Div. I. Drew Xandrine-Anderson of UC Davis leads the pack with a best of 51-10.00 which places him 16th in Div. I. Sacramento State's Jah Strange (31st, 51-03.50) and Darius Armstead (37th, 51-00.25) and UCD's Kevin Dodds (63rd, 50-02.50) have also surpassed 50 feet during the year. The Hornets' Mohamed Abdullah completes the group with a best of 49-11.25 to place him 76th.

Sacramento State also has two other men ranked among the top 100 in NCAA Div. I. Kyle Peterson is 54th in the discus after throwing 178-06 last weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays. Cory Barger, who was an All-American last season, is 92nd in the long jump with a best of 24-05.00.

In the women's competition, Carly Schulz is ranked 33rd nationally in the 400-hurdles. Schulz posted a season best time of 58.76 last Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays. She also ran the anchor leg of the team's 4x400 relay team which is 85th in Div. I in 3:40.25. Danielle Brandon completes the Hornets in the top 100 as she is ranked 80th in the pole vault (12-11.50).

UC Davis' Erinn Beattie cleared 6-00.50 in the high jump at the Bryan Clay Invitational last week. That height moved her into fifth place in Div. I.

Along with the rivalry, 10 points are at stake in the Causeway Cup race. UC Davis currently holds a 12.5 point lead in the all-sports battle between the two schools. Sacramento State could force a tie with wins from the men and women on Friday as well as a victory by baseball on May 8.

Sacramento State will stay at home next weekend for the Sac State Open on May 5. That meet will be the final tune-up before the team travels to the Big Sky Championships in Moscow, Idaho, on May 8-11.
