TRACK & FIELD COMPLETES WEEKEND AT BEACH INVITATIONAL

LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams completed their weekend Southern California trifecta at the Beach Invitational on Saturday at Long Beach State. The action came a day after the team competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays. The Hornets will next compete at the Causeway Classic dual meet against UC Davis on Friday night at Hornet Stadium.

MEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Alec Foster had the highest finish for the men during the day after placing 11th in the 400. Foster ran a career best 47.68 to better his previous best by over a quarter of a second. His time left him .04 seconds out of the school top 10.

• The men's 4x100 relay team also finished 11th. The Hornets ran 42.04 for their second fastest time of the season.

WOMEN'S TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman Shilah Bedingfield led the Hornets in the 100 and 200. Bedingfield was eighth in the 200 in 24.17 and was 28th in the 100 in a career best 11.97. Her time in the 100 marked the first time she had broken 12 seconds in her career and was just .08 seconds out of 10th place in school history. Fellow freshman Brittany Patterson ranked second on the team in the 100 in 12.31.

• A day after setting a career best in the steeplechase, Gracie Albano posted a PR in the 1500. The senior ran 4:43.09 which was just under a second faster than her previous best.

MEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Cory Barger competed in his second long jump of the season and the NCAA Championships qualifier finished 14th at the meet with a best of 23-11.00.

WOMEN'S FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Danielle Brandon and Emilia Del Hoyo each placed 23rd in the pole vault and long jump, respectively. Brandon cleared 12-09.50 and Del Hoyo had a best of 18-06.00.

• Patterson tied her career best in the long jump at 18-01.00 to rank second on the team.
