WOMEN FINISH SECOND, MEN THIRD AT HORNET INVITATIONAL

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams completed the Hornet Invitational on Saturday at Hornet Stadium. The 50-team meet included the completion of the heptathlon and decathlon as well as the main program.

The Hornet men finished in third place among Div. I teams. Sacramento State scored 136 points to finish behind California (164) and Stanford (153) of the Pac-12. The women's team was second with 144 points. Only Cal finished with more as the Golden Bears completed the sweep with 155 points.

Emilia Del Hoyo completed the heptathlon in third place. Del Hoyo tallied 4,662 points for the highest total among Div. I athletes. Sareena Patzke and Julia Grimm scored 3,677 and 3,654 respectively.

In the decathlon, Frederick Wagner V finished in fifth place with 6,492 points in his 10 events. That total is the eighth best in school history and came in his first decathlon with the Hornets. Despite not clearing a bar in the high jump yesterday, Max Jette still managed to score 6,093 points to finish in seventh. Jette had the best discus throw (123-01) and 1500 (4:30.63) in the competition.

Sacramento State will next compete at the UC Riverside Spring Classic on Mar. 23-24.
