    Sacramento State junior Darius Armstead was named the Big Sky Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the second during the outdoor season for Armstead and follows his record-shattering performance at the Causeway Classic Dual Meet on Friday in Davis, Calif.
  • MEN FINISH FIRST IN CAUSEWAY CLASSIC DUAL, ARMSTEAD SHATTERS SCHOOL RECORD

    The Sacramento State men won 10 events to defeat UC Davis in the Causeway Classic Dual on Friday night at Toomey Field. The Hornets scored 102 points compared to 89 from UCD. The men have now finished first in all three team scored events in which they competed this season.

    The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams will make the short trip to UC Davis for the 12th annual Causeway Classic Dual Meet on Friday night. The meet starts with the men's hammer at 2 p.m. The long jump begins the jumps at 4:15 p.m. and the running events start at 5 p.m. with the women's 4x100 relay.

    Members of the Sacramento State track & field team started a busy weekend by participating in the Bryan Clay Invitational Distance Carnival on Thursday night at Azusa Pacific. In all five Hornets competed in the day with the rest of the team set to begin competition on Friday during the second day of the Bryan Clay as well as the Mt. SAC Relays. The Hornets will also compete at the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State this weekend.

    The Sacramento State track and field teams return to Hornet Stadium this weekend for the annual Mondo Team Challenge on Saturday, April 1. The meet will start with several events at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude with the 4x400 relay at 3:20 p.m.

  • MEN AND WOMEN EARN TEAM TITLES AT RAINBOW RELAYS

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track & field teams each recorded victories at the Rainbow Relays on Saturday at Hawaii. The Hornet men totaled 104 points to easily defeat Cal State Northridge (58) in the men’s race. The women’s team scored 172 points to finish ahead of Hawaii (123) and Cal State Northridge (78).
  • TRACK & FIELD IN HAWAII FOR RAINBOW RELAYS ON FRIDAY

    The Sacramento State track & field team has made the most of its spring break, leaving the rain and wind of Northern California in exchange for the beaches of Hawaii. The Hornets arrived on the island on Wednesday and will compete at the Rainbow Relays beginning on Friday. Along with Hawaii and the Hornets, the meet will include CSUN, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Hawaii Pacific.

    Sacramento State’s Carly Schulz was named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Hornet Invitational last weekend at Hornet Stadium. The honor is the first for Schulz during her career.
  • ARMSTEAD BREAKS LONG-STANDING SCHOOL RECORD AT HORNET INVITATIONAL

    Two busy days of track & field came to a close on Saturday and saw the Hornets record eight school top 10 marks, including shattering a long-standing record at the Hornet Invitational. The meet was team scored and the Hornet men finished third in a tight battle. Big Sky rival Weber State won the competition with 166 points while Cal was second at 164. The Hornets were close behind with 150, nearly 100 points ahead of fourth-place Stanford (57). The Sacramento State women were second with 136.5 points placing the team only behind Cal (150).

    Eight Sacramento State athletes took part in the multi events and 11 others competed in the hammer during the first day of the Hornet Invitational on Friday. The meet will continue of Saturday at Hornet Stadium.

    Elizabeth Venzon finished in fourth place in the pentathlon and Emilia Del Hoyo was sixth to score Sacramento State’s first points at the 2017 Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. The pair combined for eight points and have the Hornets tied for second place heading into the main program on Friday.

    The Sacramento State men’s and women’s track & field teams will look to remain as one of the conference’s elite as they take part in the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships in Pocatello, Idaho. The meet will start with the pentathlon and the first day of the heptathlon on Thursday at Idaho State. The heptathlon will continue on Friday while the main program of the meet will span Friday and Saturday.

The Hornets will take part in the Husky Classic on Friday at Saturday as well as the UW Open on Sunday. Both meets will be held at the Dempsey Indoor which features a flat 307-yard Mondo surface.
