T&F WINS FOUR INDIVIDUAL TITLES DURING DAY 4 OF BIG SKY OUTDOORS

GREELEY, Colo. — Chloe Berlioux, Danielle Brandon, Paul Lyons and Daniel Onuoha each recorded individual victories during the final day of the Big Sky Championships on Saturday at Northern Colorado.

The Hornet women finished in second place with 96 points. The men's team placed sixth with 63. Northern Arizona swept the team titles 120 points in the women's competition and 187 in the men's.

Berlioux finished first in the 1500 with a time of 4:30.88 which placed her .97 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and helped her defend her title from a year ago. She also earned all-Big Sky honors by placing third in the 800 after running 2:10.60.

Brandon earned her first Big Sky title in the pole vault. The sophomore cleared 13-01.50 which was four inches above the next competitor.

Lyons added his third Big Sky outdoor title to his resume as he was victorious in the 110-hurdles. The senior entered the finals as the second seed, but shaved .08 seconds off his qualifying time to win the event in 14.07.

Onuoha, a true freshman, cleared a career best 6-10.25 to win the high jump at his first Big Sky Outdoor Championships. Onuoha's previous best was 6-09.75 set at the Hornet Invitational in March.

The women's team added several scorers during the final day of the meet. In the 100-hurdles, Kristen Robinson was second and Olivia Leavitt was third after running 13.86 and 13.90, respectively. Stephanie Blumm added two points to the team total by placing seventh in the 100H (14.24) and was third in the 400-hurdles (1:01.25) to earn all-Big Sky honors. Carly Schulz completed the scorers for the women in the hurdles by running 1:03.16 in the 400-hurdles to finish sixth.

Joy Weems was sixth in the 400 with a time of 56.16 and Amanda Garcia ran 2:15.71 to place seventh in the 800.

The team also had three additional scorers in the field events. Nirie Boglino was fourth in the triple jump with a career best of 38-06.25 — a near eight inch improvement. Fellow freshman Jelaia Jones was seventh in the shot put (44-05.25) and Hayley Ann Carbullido placed sixth in the pole vault (12-01.50).

In the men's competition, Austin Tinsley and Casey Wheeler joined Lyons in the finals of the 110-hurdles, Tinsley was sixth in 14.75 while Wheeler was seventh in 15.52. Wheeler also scored in the 400-hurdles where he was seventh after running 55.94.

Senior James Kinloch scored in both the hammer and discus. Kinloch earned all-Big Sky honors in the hammer with a throw of 192-07. He was fourth in the discus with a best of 173-09.

Adrienne Jackson completed the scorers by placing eighth in the triple jump at 46-04.25.

Several Sacramento State athletes will continue their season in two weeks at the NCAA Div. I West Preliminary in Lawrence Kanas. To qualify, an athlete must rank in the top 48 of their respective event.
