EUGENE, Ore. - Sacramento State freshmen Anton Stryhas and Timothy Lantin took both of the singles titles at the Duck Invitational on Sunday in Eugene, Ore.Stryhas defeated New Mexico''s Graeme Kassautzki, 6-4, 6-3, to take the main draw singles title and Timothy Lantin won the second flight title after beating Portland''s Evan Schleining, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Stryhas'' road to the title included a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Oregon''s Geoff Embry and a three-set victory (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) over Nevada''s Guillaume Tonelli in the quarterfinals.
Stryhas continued his road to the finals. ousting New Mexico''s Johnny Parkes 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals.
Lantin won his flight with early two-set victories in the first and second rounds. In the quarterfinals, Lantin played his closest match of the tourney, defeating teammate Hague Van Dillen 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. He then moved past Eastern Washington''s Kevin Erickson, 6-1, 7-5 to reach the finals.
In the first flight, freshman Xavier Barajas-Smith defeated Portland''s Joel Kincaid, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the second round, but could not get pest Kassautzki in the quarters, 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-2. Sacramento State''s Gabriel Loredo also fell in the quarterfinals of the first flight to Parkes, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
