MEN’S TENNIS FIELDS SEVEN PLAYERS AT THE ITA NORTHWEST REGIONAL

STANFORD, Calif. -- A total of seven Sacramento State men’s tennis players completed play at the ITA Northwest Regional over the weekend at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.

Seniors Warwick Foy, Gabriel Loredo and Ramon Perez, junior Hague Van Dillen, and freshmen Xavier Barajas-Smith, Tim Lantin and Anton Stryhas each represented the Hornets at the event. All seven players competed in the singles draw while the tandems of Foy/Perez, Loredo/Van Dillen and Barajas-Smith/Stryhas also competed in the doubles competition.

Barajas-Smith won his first two matches of the main singles draw with relative ease before finally falling to 24th-ranked Alex Slovic of Washington in the round of 32. Barajas-Smith finished the singles tournament with a team-best 3-1 record. Lantin was the only other Hornet with more than one victory in singles play, compiling a 2-2 record before falling in the second round of the consolation draw.

Barajas-Smith and Stryhas advanced the furthest in the doubles play, eventually falling in the round of 16. Loredo and Van Dillen advanced to the round of 32.

The ITA Northwest Regional wraps up fall play for the Hornets as the team does not compete again until Feb. 10 when opening the spring schedule at Eastern Washington.
