PHOENIX -- For the second-consecutive day, the Sacramento State softball squad’s games at the Kajikawa Softball Classic have been cancelled due to rain that is currently sweeping through the Phoenix area. The team was scheduled to play both third-ranked UCLA and tournament host Arizona State today. The Hornets were supposed to play Tennessee-Chatanooga and top-ranked Arizona yesterday, but those games were rained out as well. None of the four cancelled games will be made up at a later date.
On Sunday (Feb. 13), Sacramento State was originally scheduled to play Buffalo at 8 a.m., but will now play Arizona State at 12:30 p.m. providing the rain subsides. The Hornets were supposed to play five games during the three-day tournament, but may be on the verge of playing zero games despite travelling all the way to Phoenix.
Should tomorrow’s game against Arizona State be cancelled, Sacramento State (5-2) will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16, as the team travels to 24th-ranked Pacific for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
