POWAY, Calif. -- The scheduled softball game between Cal State Northridge and Sacramento State was cancelled due to unplayable fields following a night of rain at Sportsplex USA. The game was supposed to be the fifth and final of the Campbell/Cartier Tournament for Sacramento State. The Hornets finished the tournament with a 1-3 record after beating Loyola-Chicago, and losing to Auburn, Iowa State and 16th-ranked Oregon.
By virtue of its 4-0 record, Cal State Northridge was crowned champions of the tournament while Long Beach State and Oregon also went undefeated (3-0).
The Hornets (4-9 overall this season) return to action next week for a home doubleheader against Nevada (Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m.) and a road doubleheader at San Jose State (Sunday, Feb. 29, at noon).
