2012 Season
Made 21 appearances in the circle during her freshman season, including a team-best 17 starts…went 6-5 with a 4.61 ERA…threw 79.0 innings while allowing 81 hits with 57 strikeouts…opponents hit .270 off Brooks, and she allowed just four home runs all season (one per 19.2 innings pitched)…had three complete games, and was part of two combined shutouts…one of those complete games was a five-hitter in which she allowed one unearned run in a 2-1 victory against UC Santa Barbara…also allowed just four hits and struck out a season-best eight batters in a 2-1 win over Santa Clara…other complete game effort came against Idaho State.
High School
A 2011 graduate of Escalon High School in Escalon, Calif…competed in three years of varsity softball for the Cougars…despite not playing her senior season because of a foot injury, Brooks was a two-time second team all-state choice, three-time Trans Valley League MVP and three-time all-district selection while also being named The Modesto Bee Player of the Year on two occasions and The Stockton Record Player of the Year once…as a junior in 2010, she went 26-2 with a 0.11 ERA which included 12 no-hitters, 20 shutouts and 390 strikeouts over 196 innings…the strikeouts were the top mark in California and the fourth-best mark in the nation…opponents hit just .057 off Brooks, and she struck out 15 or more batters on 11 occasions…led Escalon to back-to-back Div. V Sac-Joaquin Section championships (2009-10) and three consecutive league titles (2008-10)…during her three active years with the squad, Brooks went 67-12 (52-5 over the last two years) with a 0.34 ERA, 929 strikeouts, 116 walks, 46 shutouts and an 8.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio…that includes allowing just two home runs in 519 career innings pitched.
Personal
Parents are Art and Terry Brooks…an undeclared major…was a member of the California Grapettes Gold ASA travel team (Lodi, Calif.) in the summer of 2011…played on that squad with teammate and fellow Hornet freshman Nicole Clark.
