2011 Season
Appeared in 12 games, including six starts at designated player…hit .200 with two home runs, three sacrifices and four RBIs…two of her four hits during the season were round trippers…both those home runs came during the final four-game series of the season against Cal State Bakersfield, which included a pinch-hit three-run homer in the seventh inning of the series opener…started five of the team’s final eight games of the season…against PCSC competition, she hit .267 (4-15)...named to the PCSC’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll. for the second straight year.
2010 Season
A second team all-PCSC Coastal Division selection…appeared in 25 games, including 21 starts (four at third base, seven in left field and 10 at designated player)…played in 22 of the team’s final 27 games after making just three appearances during the first half of the season…hit .317 (20-63) with 12 runs, five doubles, a home run and 14 RBIs…started 16 of the team’s 20 conference games, and hit .362 (17-47) with 13 RBIs against PCSC opposition…finished the season on an eight-game hitting streak, batting .480 (12-25) with three doubles and six RBIs over that span…posted at least one RBI in five of the last six games…named to the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, given to student-athletes who record a 3.0 gpa or better during the academic year.
Prior to Sacramento State
Spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons at the University of Tulsa…in 2008, she appeared in seven games, starting once at designated player…had two hits in nine at-bats, including a single in her only pinch hitting appearance of the season…redshirted in 2009 after knee surgery…named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll both years at Tulsa.
High School
A 2007 graduate of Franklin High School in Stockton, Calif…a four-sport athlete at Franklin, Canete played four years of water polo, two years of basketball, one year of soccer, and one season of softball…that one season of softball came during her senior year when she was the team captain and team MVP…a three-time team captain of the water polo squad, she was named the San Joaquin Athletic Association Player of the Year during her senior season…a member of the school’s honor roll all four years.
