2009 Season
Appeared in 40 games (all starts)...started 33 games at first base, three at pitcher, three at designated player and once in left field...missed 11 games with a hamstring injury...completed her freshman season with a .304 batting average against conference competition...batted .265 overall...was the only Hornet to go the entire season without committing an error (no errors in 226 total chances)...had 23 runs, five doubles, four home runs, 14 RBIs, 11 walks and a .331 on-base percentage...struck out just once every 10.3 at-bats...batted .300 with runners on base and .290 with runners in scoring position...had nine multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI games...also had four appearances (three starts) at pitcher near the beginning of the season.
High School
A 2008 graduate of Woodland High School...played four years of volleyball, basketball and softball...in softball, she played on the varsity team all four years, and was a four-time first team all Tri-County Conference selection, and two-time league offensive MVP...as a senior, she led the Wolves to their first-ever Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championship, and a co-league championship...also in 2008, she was named second team all-state, first team all-metro and league offensive MVP after batting .519 with 26 runs, five home runs, seven doubles, three triples and 50 RBIs in 27 games...as a pitcher, she went 14-6 with a 0.79 ERA with 189 strikeouts and just 20 walks in 124.2 innings...last June, she was one of two players to receive the Robert K. Puglia Award, given to high school players in the Sacramento region who best exemplify the characteristics of a winner...as a junior, she hit .598 with nine home runs, a 1.061 slugging percentage and 16 stolen bases...on the mound, she finished 15-5 with a 0.88 ERA with 142 strikeouts and 13 walks in 120.0 innings...was also a first team all-league performer in both volleyball and basketball during her high school career...member of the National Honor Society from 2006-08, and member of the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school.
Personal
Born June 13, 1990...parents are Robert and Gaye Nakken...a psychology major...played club softball for both the California Flames and San Jose Sting...during the summer of 2008, she played for the ASA Gold 18-under San Jose Sting squad that finished tied for 17th at nationals...played on that team with fellow Sacramento State teammates Marissa Navarro, Alicia Noriega and Kelly Shepard.
