SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State softball team placed 11 student-athletes on the Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) Commissioner’s Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office.
The award, in its eighth year of existence, is given to student-athletes who earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2010-11 academic year. Over 60 percent of the student-athletes on Sacramento State’s 18-player roster received the honor.
The Hornets have now placed at least five student-athletes on the honor roll every year of the award’s existence. The 11 student-athletes on this year’s team are the most for Sacramento State since 12 in 2007.
Schaefer (first team), Caldwell (first team; PCSC Freshman of the Year), Nakken (second team) and Stroud (honorable mention) had already been named all-conference when the awards were handed out at the conclusion of the season.
