SOFTBALL SEES ITS NINTH GAME CANCELED TO RAIN, WILL NOT PLAY STANFORD ON SATURDAY

3/26/2011

STANFORD, Calif. -- Due to rains that hit the Stanford area throughout the night and into this morning, Saturday’s Sacramento State softball game against 12th-ranked Stanford has been canceled and will not be played at a later date.

The game was supposed to be the Hornets’ third contest of the Stanford Invitational. Sacramento State opened tournament play yesterday with losses to San Diego State and Stanford. As of now, the Hornets’ schedule for Sunday remains the same with the team scheduled to play both Pacific (11:15 a.m.) and Coastal Carolina (3:45 p.m.).

Amazingly, Sacramento State has now seen nine of its games canceled to rain this year. Of the Hornets’ last eight scheduled games, only two have been played.
