RAIN CANCELS THURSDAY’S SOFTBALL GAME AGAINST OREGON STATE

3/23/2011

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Due to heavy rains that hit the Sacramento area hard in the late afternoon and are expected to carry into tomorrow, Thursday’s softball game against Oregon State has been canceled and will not be played at a later date. The two teams were originally scheduled to play a single game at noon.

Rain continues to wreak havoc on Sacramento State’s season. The Hornets had all four of their Capital Classic Tournament games washed out last week, and have now seen eight games canceled this year because of rain. That doesn’t include a 7-4 loss to nationally ranked Washington that was stopped after five innings because of rain.

The Hornets (7-11) will travel to the Bay Area later this week where they will compete in the three-day, five-game Stanford Invitational on March 25-27. Weather permitting, Sacramento State will take on both San Diego State (10 a.m.) and host Stanford (12:15 p.m.) on Friday, Stanford (3:30 p.m.) again on Saturday, and both Pacific (11:15 a.m.) and Coastal Carolina (3:45 p.m.) on Sunday.

Live audio is being provided for both games on Friday via www.hornetsports.com by clicking here. Live stats for all five games are available by clicking here.
