SOFTBALL PLACES FIVE PLAYERS ON COMMISSIONER’S HONOR ROLL

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State softball team placed five student-athletes on the Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) Commissioner’s Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office.

The award, in its sixth year of existence, is given to student-athletes who have earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2008-09 academic year. The Hornets have now placed at least five student-athletes on the honor roll during each year of the award’s existence.

Among the Hornets to receive the honor were freshmen Desiree Beltran
, Alyssa Nakken and Kelly Shepard, and juniors Katie Bossenmaier and Keri Elias. Beltran was also named first team all-Pacific Region, first team all-PCSC and the conference’s freshman of the year last month. Nakken received honorable mention all-league honors.

A complete list of each of the five Sacramento State student-athletes (name, gpa during the 2008-09 academic year, major) is listed below.

Desiree Beltran - 3.01, Liberal Studies
Katie Bossenmaier - 3.19, Communication Studies
Keri Elias - 3.00, Criminal Justice
Alyssa Nakken - 3.88, Psychology
Kelly Shepard - 3.28, Child Development
