SOFTBALL RAINED OUT IN PORTLAND, WILL PLAY TRIPLEHEADER ON SUNDAY

4/23/2005

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Saturday''s Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) doubleheader between Portland State and Sacramento State was postponed due to rain in the Portland area.

The two teams will play a tripleheader on Sunday (April 24), beginning at noon, and a single game on Monday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

The four-game series is crucial for the Hornets (26-20, 8-4) as the team currently sits in second place in the PCSC standings with just eight games remaining on the schedule. Loyola Marymount (12-2) improved its stronghold on first place in the conference standings earlier today by sweeping a doubleheader from San Diego.

Sacramento State and Loyola Marymount close out the regular season next weekend as the Hornets host the Lions for a four-game series. The winner of the PCSC championship receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals. The Hornets are attempting to make the NCAA Regionals field for the first time since 1995.

Portland State (7-5 PCSC) is currently in third place, a game behind the Hornets while San Diego (7-7) dropped to fourth place after being swept today.
