SOFTBALL UNVEILS BANNER DEPICTING SOME OF THE PROGRAM’S ALL-TIME GREATS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento State softball recently completed the latest enhancement to Shea Stadium, a banner bearing the names and likenesses of each of the program’s Div. I All-Americans and each of the Hornets who played professionally.
The banner, which was created by athletic department graphic designer Chris Soriano, measures over 79 feet in width and 11 feet in height. It sits at the entrance to the stadium at the back side of the grandstand, and is in plain view of commuters driving past the softball stadium on State University Drive.
The banner depicts Sacramento State’s Div. I All-Americans Susie Bugliarello, Lindy Winkler, Tami Blunt and Terrie Cissna, as well as five other players that went on to play professionally (Jamie Schloredt, Izmena Cabrera, Nicole Deatherage, Katie Cichy and Gina Givogri). Multiple photos of the banner can be seen by clicking here, or on the link above the story.
The banner is another in a long list of additions the softball program has made to Shea Stadium since 2010. The infield and warning track recently received new dirt which was laser graded. Four years ago, the stadium’s outfield fence received a new windscreen, and a windscreen now stretches along the perimeter of the stadium on State University Drive.
The Hornets are less than two weeks from beginning the season at the Fresno State Kickoff (Feb. 8-10). The team opens against UTEP on Feb. 8 at 11:30 a.m., and will also take on Southern Miss, UC Riverside, UC Davis and Fresno State during tournament play.
