SOFTBALL PLACES 13 PLAYERS ON THE PCSC COMMISSIONER’S HONOR ROLL
7/11/2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State softball team placed 13 student-athletes on the Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) Commissioner’s Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office.
The award, in its ninth year of existence, is given to student-athletes who earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2011-12 academic year. Over 60 percent of the student-athletes on Sacramento State’s 21-player roster received the honor.
The Hornets have now placed at least five student-athletes on the honor roll every year of the award’s existence. The 13 student-athlete honorees matches a school record as the 2004 and 2005 squads also had 13 members.
Among the Hornets to receive the honor were seniors Jessica Abelia, Alyssa Nakken and Marissa Navarro, juniors Lauren Blair, Emily McCormick and Molly Smith, sophomores Devin Caldwell, Shannon Kaufman and Taylor Stroud, and freshmen Alexa Chattleton, Nicole Clark, Sade Estes and Paris Prado.
Nakken (first team), McCormick (first team), Navarro (second team) and Caldwell (honorable mention) each received all-conference accolades in May.
