Bio:
After a successful four-year career as a pitcher at Sacramento State (2008-11), Megan Schaefer will begin her first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hornets in 2012.

A three-time all-conference selection (first team in 2009 and 2011, second team in 2010), Schaefer finished her career with a 37-25 record and a 2.48 ERA. She made 92 appearances in the circle, including 76 starts, 36 complete games and seven shutouts. Schaefer posted double figures in victories on two occasions, including 15 in 2009 which is tied for the 10th best mark in the team’s Div. I single-season history (1990-pres.).

A two-time Pacific Coast Softball Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll choice and a seven-time PCSC Pitcher of the Week selection, the Tigard, Ore., native ranks among Sacramento State’s top 10 in five different Div. I career categories. That includes fifth in wins and starts, sixth in innings (461.0), eighth in strikeouts (236) and ninth in complete games.

Schaefer tossed at least 86.0 innings and posted a sub-3.00 ERA all four years of her career, and was either the Hornets’ No. 1 or 2 starter every season as well. In addition, she finished her career with a better than 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (236 strikeouts, 114 walks).

Schaefer graduated from Sacramento State in the fall of 2011 with a criminal justice degree.
