SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State senior pitcher Savanna Corr and senior first baseman Krystal Aubert were both named all-Pacific Region, it was announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Both players were named to the third team.
Corr and Aubert both played big roles in the Hornets recently completing their second consecutive 30-win season. Sacramento State finished with a 31-25 record and hosted this year's Big Sky Conference Championship.
It marks the second straight year Sacramento State has seen two players named all-region as both Suzy Brookshire and Celina Matthias accomplished the feat in 2018.
The all-region awards were the first in the careers of both Corr and Aubert. Both players were recently named first team all-Big Sky, and Corr was selected the Big Sky Pitcher of the Year while also being unanimously chosen to the first team.
Corr finished her senior season with a 21-13 record to go along with a 2.08 ERA and .184 opponents batting average. She became just the fifth Hornet in the Div. I era (1990-pres.) to win 20 games in a season and threw a pair of no-hitters (including a perfect game against Fairleigh Dickinson). Corr appeared in 46 of the team's 56 games, and threw shutouts in over 25 percent of her starts.
In 228.2 innings pitched, the Chino Hills, Calif., native allowed just 151 hits with 185 strikeouts. The right-hander threw 21 complete games, eight shutouts and added three saves. Corr, who was named the Big Sky Pitcher of the Week on three occasions, led the conference in ERA, opponents batting average, strikeouts, shutouts and wins.
In her first full year at Sacramento State, Aubert had a monster season after missing nearly all of last year with injury. The Orangevale, Calif., native spent her first two seasons at Washington before transferring to the Hornets. Aubert appeared in 52 games, including 51 starts, primarily at first base. She hit .348 with eight doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 39 RBIs. Aubert was named the USA Softball National Player of the Week on April 23 and reached base safely in a program-record 11 straight plate appearances (April 19-26).
Aubert ranked among the Big Sky's top 10 players in 10 different offensive categories, including first in home runs and slugging percentage (.690), third in total bases (107), fourth in RBIs and fifth in on-base percentage (.442). She averaged one homer every 11.9 at-bats and finished the year batting .429 in conference play.
