BEACH VOLLEYBALL BEATS PACIFIC, 4-1, IN HOME FINALE

FOLSOM, Calif. — Playing its final home match of the season, Sacramento State's beach volleyball team posted a 4-1 victory over Pacific on Saturday morning at Livermore Community Park.

The Hornets, who concluded a two-day, four-team home tournament, got three straight-set victories and a three-set win to defeat the Tigers. Sacramento State opened the tournament yesterday with 4-1 losses to UC Davis and Boise State. For results from each of the match of the tournament, click here.

Of the 10 Hornet players used in today's win, seven were underclassmen. That included four freshmen and three sophomores.

Sacramento State received straight set wins from the No. 1 team of Mikaela Nocetti and Sarah Davis (21-17 21-15), No. 2 Skyler Takeda and Ashtin Olin (21-13, 21-12) as well as No. 3 McKenna Smith and Macey Hayden (23-21, 21-16). In addition, the Hornets got a there-set victory from the No. 5 doubles team of Cianna Andrews and Hannah Chase (20-22, 21-11, 15-12).

The win for Olin/Takeda was their fifth of the season while Davis/Nocetti won for the fourth time.

Sacramento State will not play again until facing Boise State and Arizona in Boise on April 19. The Hornets have just three regular season matches remaining until the Big West Championship in Malibu on April 26-28.
