STINGER ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION TO HOST BOB MATTOS MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC ON SEPT. 19

7/12/2011

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Bob Mattos Memorial Golf Classic will take place on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Sierra View Country Club. The tournament is hosted by the Stinger Athletic Association which is the primary fundraising arm for the Sacramento State athletics department.

The Bob Mattos Memorial Golf Classic is designed to support all 20 intercollegiate athletic programs, and is an excellent opportunity to interact with members of the athletic department staff and coaches. The tournament is named after former Sacramento State head football coach Bob Mattos, who compiled the most wins by a football coach in school history.

Shotgun start begins at 11:30 a.m. (registration at 10 a.m., and lunch at 11 a.m.) with teams consisting of four players in a scramble format. Participants can sign up as individuals ($180 per player) or groups ($720 per foursome). Each participant will receive a cart, lunch, range balls, tee prizes and a post-tournament banquet dinner.

In addition, there will be a ball drop where a helicopter will drop 1,500 golf balls onto a hole. The first three balls that fall into the hole will pay out. Cost to enter the drop is $5 per ball, or $20 for five balls. The first-place ball will pay $750, second place pays $500, and third place pays $250.

Hole sponsorships are also available beginning at $150. Non-golfers are invited to attend the dinner and raffle for $30.
