SIMS HONORED AT ANNUAL ‘30 UNDER 30’ LUNCHEON

T-Anté Sims, director of athletic ticket operations at Sacramento State, was honored this past weekend as one of 30 of the Sacramento region’s most outstanding young African American leaders under the age of 30 at the 2009 Capital City Black Expo. The program was a three-day event that took place at the Sacramento Convention Center.
The ‘30 Under 30’ luncheon, which was sponsored by the Observer Media Group, featured Ben Jealous, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), as its keynote speaker.
Sims, in his third year as a member of the Hornet athletic staff, previously served as the director of ticketing for the Sacramento Sports Commission, the organization that served as host for the 2000 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials for Track & Field. He also served as ticket manager for the 2003, 2005 and 2007 NCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Sacramento State.
A founding member and fundraising committee chair of the Black Chapter of the Sacramento State Alumni Association, Sims has also been serving as a mentor to a number of Hornet student-athletes.
Sims is a 2002 graduate of Sacramento State with a degree in marketing. He is currently working on a second bachelor’s degree and plans on pursuing an MBA in sports management.
