SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Becca Whitman has been hired as Sacramento State’s assistant athletics director for corporate sales.
A native of Santa Rosa, Calif., Whitman will be responsible for the sale and implementation of all corporate sponsorships in support of Hornet athletics.
Whitman brings extensive corporate sales and managerial experience to the Hornet program. She served three and-a-half years as the general manager of the Chico Outlaws Professional baseball club, overseeing all areas of operations, including sponsorships, vendor relations and community outreach.
For her efforts, she was named 2006 Executive of the Year honors in the Golden Baseball League.
Whitman also served three years as assistant marketing coordinator for the Chico Heat baseball club, a member of the Western Baseball League, and also handled marking and promotional events as well as sales and marketing collateral as director of promotions for Deer Creek Broadcasting.
“We are very excited to bring Becca on board,” Sacramento State Director of Athletics Terry Wanless said. “She was selected from a very strong pool of candidates and brings a lot of experience to the job from her background in professional baseball as both a general manager and from her time on the promotions and marketing end.
“We believe that her experience greatly mirrors many of the same things we need to be doing here at Sacramento State.”
In addition to her experience in baseball, Whitman was employed as both a part-time faculty member and as a teaching associate at California State University, Chico, in the area of speech communication.
Whitman earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in communications from California State University, Chico.
