BIG SKY TV NOW A FREE SERVICE TO FANS

8/29/2008

OGDEN, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference and Broadcast International announced this week that Big Sky TV will move to a free service for the 2008-09 athletic season.

Big Sky TV, the league’s video streaming web site, enters its third year of operation in 2008-09, and will feature football, men and women’s basketball and volleyball matches held in Big Sky Conference venues. All told, more than 400 events will be available.

All fans will need to do in 2008-09 is log on to www.bigskytv.org, and register with a user name and password. All live events will be free. Viewers will need to purchase events if they chose to watch them on-demand. Sacramento State’s first free event on Big Sky TV takes place on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the Hornet football team takes on Humboldt State at 6 p.m.

Different from years past, Broadcast International has switched the viewer to a flash-based format, resulting in a much more user-friendly experience. Big Sky Conference schools are required to provide Broadcast International with two-camera broadcasts. Games must include at least one high court or field shot and one alternate shot.

The Hornet volleyball team will play three times on Big Sky TV next week when the squad hosts the Sacramento State Invitational. The team will take on Cal Stat Northridge on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m., and San Jose State (12:30 p.m.) and Saint Mary’s (7:30 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 6.
