HORNETS 'SUPER SUNDAY' REACHES NCAA BLOG

5/1/2007

Sacramento State's run of four titles in the span of four hours on Sunday grabbed the attention of the the NCAA's latest mode of communication -- the association's official blog.

On Sunday, Sacramento State squads won Big Sky Conference titles in men's and women's tennis, a Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association team title in women's rowing and a men's golf title at the Division I Independent Golf Championships.

The Double-A Zone (www.doubleazone.com) -- the official blog of the NCAA -- posted a story on the Hornets' accomplishment today.  The site is an open forum for discussions to take place about issues in intercollegiate athletics.

From weekly podcast interviews with NCAA President Myles Brand to regular guest posts from student-athletes, the Double-A Zone offers a number of features to keep people informed about the pressing issues of the day.

Exciting and passionate conversations take place online each and every day, and the popularity of the blog has grown since its inception in November 2005, according to Josh Centor, the site's creator as well as the NCAA Coordinator for New Media Communications.  The site is now reaching nearly 50,000 visitors each month and is aimed at getting out positive messages about college sports.
