WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO NO. 16 USC

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 48 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team lost its season opener, 7-0, to No. 16 ranked USC on Saturday morning in the ITA Kickoff Weekend at Arizona State's Whiteman Tennis Center.
The Hornets (0-1) were set to open their season last weekend at Washington and Washington State but weather in the Seattle area caused Sacramento State's flight to be canceled.
On Saturday against the Women of Troy, the Hornets were overpowered by USC's singles lineup that featured four nationally ranked players. Sabrina Santamaria (18), Zoe Scandalis (19), Danielle Lao (42) and Kaitlyn DeSimone (99) were all ranked in the ITA Tennis Top-125 coming into the match.
Sacramento State will play either the host Sun Devils or Texas Tech tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. PT.
