MEN’S TENNIS FINISHES PLAY AT THE ITA REGIONALS; MILLAN AND MARKSOO REACH ROUND OF 32

SEATTLE -- Sacramento State’s Javier Millan and Marek Marksoo both reached the main draw’s round of 32 to highlight Sacramento State’s appearance at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships over the weekend at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Hornets traveled six players to the tournament - Millan, Marksoo, junior Aliaksandr Malko, and freshmen Roy Brandys, Jonathan Hultkrantz and Sean Kolar - and each picked up at least one win during the singles portion of the event.
The Round of 128 singles draw saw Millan reach the Round of 32 before falling to No. 4 seed Nick Andrews of Cal by a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 score. In addition, Marksoo, who beat players from Oregon and UCLA in the first two rounds, had to retire from his match against Stanford’s Ryan Thacher.
Brandys went 3-2 and reached the consolation quarterfinals while Malko went 3-2 and advanced to the consolation semis before falling.
In doubles play, the tandems of Brandys/Marksoo and Kolar/Malko both reached the Round of 32. Millan and Hultkrantz fell to a doubles team from Cal in the first round.

Sacramento State is now finished with its fall portion of the schedule and will not play until the spring season opener against Arizona on Jan. 27. SINGLES PLAY
