2011 Season
Went 6-18 in dual singles play, and 10-16 in doubles during his first intercollegiate season…in singles, he was 3-3 at No. 4, 1-7 at No. 5 and 2-8 at No. 6…five of his six singles victories came in straight sets…that included a three-match winning streak from March 11-16 (each of those wins coming at the No. 4 spot)…played doubles with five different partners, including Daniel Diaz, Kiryl Harbatsiuk, Joe DeGuzman, Jason Smith and Javier Millan…primarily played with Millan, where the tandem went 6-5, including 1-0 at No. 2 and 5-5 at No. 3…the duo won their matches at the Big Sky Tournament semifinals and championship match against Montana State and Northern Arizona, respectively.

High School
A 2010 graduate of El Diamante High School in Visalia, Calif…played four years of tennis and football, and one season of basketball for the Miners…in tennis, he was a three-time Fresno Bee Player of the Year, four-time first team all-West Yosemite League and all-county selection, and four-time team MVP…posted a 30-2 singles record during his junior season while leading the team to a Central Section championship and league title that year…was the starting quarterback for the football team his senior season where he was a first team all-league choice after leading the team to a 9-2 overall record and a 6-0 league mark.

Born Sept. 12, 1991…son of Starley Souza…a business administration major…brother, Tyler, currently plays football and tennis at El Diamante High School.
