TENNIS TEAMS HEAD TO MONTANA STATE THIS WEEKEND FOR BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Sacramento State men's and women's tennis teams will be in Bozeman, Mont., this weekend.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's and women's tennis teams, both No. 1 seeds, will head to Bozeman, Mont., this weekend for the Big Sky Conference Championships at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

The Sacramento State women's team won it's 10th straight regular season league title and its 80th straight league dual match with a victory at Portland State last weekend. The Hornets were 8-0 in the Big Sky this season and 17-8 overall. The Hornets went a perfect 10-0 at home and 6-8 on the road.

Clarisse Baca and Sophie Lohscheidt enter the tournament on a 10-match singles winning streak. Baca, a junior, holds a team-best 18-6 singles record this season while Lohscheidt, a freshman, is second with a 15-8 mark. Baca and Maria Meliuk combined to go a team-best 18-5 in doubles play. Lohscheidt and Milica Zivanovic have won six straight doubles matches and are 8-2 overall.

The Sacramento State men's team was also undefeated in conference play this season, 12-13 overall.

The Hornets have won 17 consecutive matches against Big Sky teams dating back to last season, and have won five straight and 10 conference regular season titles total since joining the Big Sky for the 1997 spring season (1998-99, 2001-03, and 2007-11). The team will attempt to win its ninth Big Sky Tournament championship (1998-99, 2001-03, 2007, 2009-10).

Kiryl Harbatsiuk went a phenomenal 21-2 in singles matches while he combined, primarily, with Marko Starcevic to go 12-4 in doubles.
